Ballet is a highly technical art form that demands precision, strength & grace. There are many physical benefits of a ballet class including improved posture, flexibility, strength and agility, As well as mental benefits such as improved self-esteem, confidence & focus. Ballet is a solid foundation for all dancers. The entire ballet form is based upon impeccable posture & strength that will prevent bad habits going into adulthood.
Level 2 (Grade 4 & 5): dancers bodies are going through a lot of change so extra work is needed to strengthen muscles and help maintain their flexibility at this stage. The standard is getting higher and examinations do get harder to pass. The students learn longer more challenging exercise and steps, once they have mastered a new skill they feel a great sense of accomplishment.
Tap class for students at Dancebox is a place where you can explore sounds and rhythms with your feet and your hands to all different types of music. Each child will gain confidence and performance skills in a small nurturing group environment with a highly qualified dancer as their teacher.
Tap dance increases fitness, muscle strength, flexibility, coordination, musicality, timing and confidence. We follow the British Ballet Organisation’s Tap syllabus, a clear winner when compared to other syllabus providers and registered with the NQF.
Modern Theatre dance is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. Developing style and performance, as well as working on technique, means this style of dance is accessible to any young performer. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns. This is a highly energetic dance style making it lots of fun and a perfect outlet for energetic dancers!
Candidates build from their sound technique, by developing the physical ability to communicate through movement in an expressive and artistic way. A clearly defined structure allows learning to take place in the context of safe dance practice. The Graded Examinations build up progressively, ensuring that steps and skills learned at lower levels prepare for more complex movements as the candidate progresses. The Graded Examinations in Modern Theatre Dance also allow for those participating solely for recreational purposes to produce quality work in a safe dance context

INTERMEDIATE MUSICAL THEATRE
Commercial dance lessons will allow your child to create, choreograph and dance to all the modern pop songs you hear on the radio and TV. In lessons, we learn short routines and work on building confidence, technique and performance skills.
Our Intermediate class develops confidence and commercial performance skill. The class introduces more complicated routines and work in completed in class to help students develop their understanding of dynamics, rhythm, timing and musicality, as well as developing their own freestyle commercial skills.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive that combines elements of several dance genres including ballet, jazz, hip hop and lyrical. In class, we focus on the technical elements followed by a creative task involving choreography or improvisation. Contemporary evolves to remain contemporary to the time, it is very open-minded and accessible to an individual's natural form. Contemporary is a creative outlet that balances freedom of movement with instruction, rules and discipline. There are several prominent features within the style some of which are, tilts, contractions, high release, fall and roll.
Intermediate dancers explore different choreographic methods. They learn to express themselves in a versatile manner with the understanding that everything created in class is relevant - they are an individual and their work must be too. The use of breath is a key aspect that is spoken about a lot during class. Floorwork is taught, making each dancer feel at ease rolling across the floor
