Pre-Syllabus Dance Programme

4 turning 5, during Sept-July teaching year

Our Saturday Pre-Syllabus Dance programme offers 45 minutes every week for young dancers to explore dance and creative movement as a source of exercise and fun whilst engaging with other children of their own age.

Children are encouraged to interact and share ideas, improve communication, listening and social skills. During each session, children are introduced to classical ballet, tap and modern dance.

The variety of movement they encounter will open their eyes to the world of dance, developing their imaginations and encouraging them to try new things.

Each year, the learning and development of each student is assessed via the Dancebox Class Award plus all students have the option to undertake external grade/age RQF examinations via one of our dance examination partners (bbo, RAD, ISTD).

This class gives the opportunity to experience a variety of dance forms and rhythms which will spark imagination and lead to children improvising their own dance routines, whilst developing a creative, explorative and imaginative nature.  Alongside the physical benefits of dance, your child will develop their self-control and motivation as they try to master new movements and styles.

The learning and development of each student is assessed via the Dancebox Class Award. Students have the option to undertake external examinations via our examination partner bbodance.

Foundation Theatre Works

Ages 5 to 7

Our TheatreWorks Foundation Programme is a 60-minute class designed to help young children develop confidence in communicating, explore imagination, expand their social skills and start their journey into the world of acting and singing.

Each class starts with a ‘What I did!’ circle chat, followed by an energetic physical warm up, followed by an entertaining vocal activity, these 3 activities are in place at the start of a class to promote teamwork and engage the focus of every student.  Once we have undertaken this weekly warm up we move onto our ‘Focus of the Week’, this can range from songs, to poetry, to creative role play, all of which is structured around a stimulating half term theme.

Classes are fun and engaging; we create a safe space where students have the freedom to learn valuable life and stage skills through creative play.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for safely opening the doors and helping to lift the girl’s spirits. Dancing means so much to them and today showed how prepared the school is to keep children safe and ensure they have fun. We were always well informed and dare I say that the provisions in place were better than those at school. So happy they’re back and learning from the fantastic DB Team again!
