MATTHEW LINECAR-BOULTON

PRINCIPAL

Matthew Linecar-Boulton, co-founder and Principal of Dancebox Studios, is an established performer and dance teacher. Matthew has recently retired from performing after a 15-year career that included appearing in a staggering 8 West End shows.   Alongside being a sought after performer, Matthew has taught at various vocational colleges across London and nationwide, including the home of the Royal Ballet School, White Lodge. He is regularly asked to lecture and choreograph for graduating students and is highly regarded as the key ingredient to many students’ success who go on to enjoy fulfilling performing careers themselves. Previous graduates under Matthew’s training are now appearing in Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing, Thriller Live, Moulin Rouge and hundreds of cruise ships all over the world. Matthew’s most recent teaching qualification was awarded by the British Ballet Organization in recognition of his experience & knowledge and the benefits that this would bring to their syllabus delivery. Matthew has held the position of Head of Jazz at Bodywork, Cambridge. He has also taught at Bird College, Urdang, London Studio Centre, Tring Park, Pineapple Dance Studios, Mountview, MADD, Millennium and for the BBO Scholars Programme.

TOM LINECAR-BOULTON

DIRECTOR

Tom trained at Central School of Ballet. On graduating he joined K-Ballet Company in Japan before returning to the UK to take up a contract with English National Ballet and embark on a freelance career. Most prolifically Tom became the third of Channel 4’s Ballet Boyz (with William Trevitt & Michael Nunn), before taking on the role of Billy’s Older Self in the multi-award-winning West End musical Billy Elliot. In 2009 Tom left Billy Elliot to pursue a teaching career and shortly after became a full-time member of the Ballet Faculty at Bird College. Tom left Bird College after being offered the post of Head of Dance at Bodywork Dance Studios but opted instead to take on the role of Head of Graduate Performances at Tring Park. Tom continues to work as a freelance teacher for English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and most of the UK’s major awarding bodies, dance schools and colleges. Tom works closely with the British Ballet Organisation where he is involved in syllabus development and has also worked with the Royal Academy of Dance where he created the major level solos for the Genée Challenge competition and was also part of the Continuing Professional Development Working Group. Tom has a degree in Dance and Culture from the University of Surrey, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Greenwich and has recently been asked to become an examiner for the British Ballet Organisation. He was also short-listed for the directorship of the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET)

LAURA BLOMFIELD

DANCE TEACHER & ASSISTANT JUNIOR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

At 16 years old, Laura studied a two year BTEC course in Dance and Drama and a Diploma in Variety and Entertainment at the Liverpool Theatre School. She was then awarded a full scholarship for a further three years and completed a national diploma in Professional Musical Theatre. Laura loves teaching children of all ages but especially the little ones.  ‘ I get to give them there first experiences of dance and I try to do it in the funniest way possible, I mean who wouldn’t love flying to the moon every Saturday morning’. As well as teaching at the studio Laura is also our assistant junior school principal. 

HANNAH FAID

DANCE TEACHER

Hannah was an associate at The Royal Ballet School for 8 years, during which time she performed with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Kirov. She went on to full time training at The Arts Educational School Tring, where she gained her FDI teaching qualification. She continued her training at Rambert gaining a BA(hons) in ballet and contemporary dance. Since graduating Hannah has danced professionally with Vienna Festival Ballet and has taught and choreographed in various schools in Buckinghamshire. Hannah performed with Darcey Bussell in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics

MONTANA DERBY

COMMERCIAL TEACHER

Montana Darby is a professional commercial dancer, model, choreographer and teacher. Montana trained at Stella Mann College of Performing Arts where she graduated with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance. Credits include appearances on Channel 4’s Alan Carr Chatty Man. She has also performed across Europe at various concerts and festivals.  ‘I can honestly say that I could not imagine doing anything else with my life. Dance, performing and teaching is my heart and soul. I am so grateful to be able to do what I love every single day and I hope to inspire many other young performers to follow their dreams.'

CLAIRE NAPLETON

DANCE TEACHER

Originally from Hull, Claire trained at London’s Central School of Ballet. Whilst on tour with Ballet Central, Claire performed a variety of roles, both in Contemporary and Jazz repertoire, as well as Classical and Neo-Classical Ballets. Claire went on to dance professionally with Northern Ballet Theatr.  In addition to this, Claire danced with English National Ballet at the Royal Albert Hall as well as undertaking a number of freelance Contemporary projects before retiring from performing to pursue a career in finance. Claire completed a Dance Teaching qualification with BBO Dance and joined the Dancebox team in 2019. ‘Dancing has always been a passion for me. I hope I can pass on that sense of enjoyment to the children I teach.’

ANNA MAIR

DANCE TEACHER

Anna started dancing at the age of 3 learning RAD Ballet, ISTD Modern, Tap, Greek and National as well as free jazz classes. She regularly competed at the All England Dance Finals, giving her great performance experience in a competitive environment. At 18 Anna went on to train at the Trinity Laban Centre, where after 2 years she gained a Diploma in Dance Education. She then completed her Ba (Hons) Degree in Dance and Theatre Performance at Bird College. Anna later moved to New York where she trained at the Broadway Dance Centre. Anna is excited to be a part of training the next generation of dancers here at Dancebox.

EMMA HOUGHTON

DANCE TEACHER

Emma started dancing at the age of 3, training in ballet, tap and modern in Milton Keynes. She attended Arts Educational School, Tring Park from 11-19 and trained in all aspects of dance, drama and singing. During her training, she gained her ISTD teaching associates in Ballet, Modern and Tap. Emma also graduated with her RAD Solo Seal Award and was a finalist in the Adeline Genee Awards.  During her professional performing career, Emma toured the UK with Adonais Ballet Company for 1 year before going on to perform the lead ballet role ‘Spirit’ in Alan Harding’s production of ‘Spirit of the Dance’ touring the world for 4 years. Emma has also appeared as a dancer in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and has appeared in several pantomimes for Qdos across the UK. Emma loves seeing children enjoy dance as much as she does, Emma says "...passing on my dance knowledge is best gift I can give."

GILLIAN BRUNINGS

Gillian started performing at a young age, holds a BTEC Performing Arts, and MA in Arts & Culture Management. Gillian founded an acting school in South Africa, led and developed a range of acting programmes for children and adults and was contracted by the SA Department of Education, to design and document the drama, dance and music Creative Arts Curriculum. Gillian is a registered LAMDA coach, has extensive experience directing youth dramas, musical theatre and Shakespeare festivals and is an avid playwright, most recently published by Trinity College in the “International Plays for Young Performers” collection. 

ANNA HORNYAK

Originally from Hungary, Anna started dancing ballet at the age of 7. Between ages 15 and 18 she attended the London Russian Ballet School where she received further training from Bolshoi Ballet teachers and performed in several shows. She holds a Higher National Diploma and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Performing Arts Dance from the University of Roehampton. She is familiar with various contemporary techniques such as Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Release and Contact Improvisation. Anna is currently completing her masters in mass communication and is excited to be part of the Dancebox team to support the next generation of dancers.
